Sweet Treat

Sometimes you just need to indulge. We love this recipe for sweet and salty butterscotch popcorn on movie night, it's a bit messy to eat but totally addictive. Ever since we found popcorn kernels from Oak Manor Organic Mill in Tavistock (oakmanorfarms.ca) it's been even better!

Making caramel and butterscotch can seem intimidating, but it just takes a little practice. Sometimes an impurity or some little movement can make the sugar crystallize and then you have to start all over, but if you use a clean pot and just leave it alone until it changes colour everything should work out. You need to keep a close eye on the sugar as well... once it starts changing colour it will go from perfect golden to burnt in a very short time. Also, this is very important: be very careful when handling melted sugar!
